Panacea de la Montaña is located in Tamarindo, in the Nicoya Peninsula. Tamarindo is a short 1 hour drive from the Liberia International airport (LIR), or a 4-5 hour drive from Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO). Keep in mind check in is from 12 – 5 pm, so plan your trip accordingly.
You can fly into the Liberia International Airport (LIR) and be here at our yoga spa in less than an hour. Or, you can choose to take a domestic flight from the airport in San Jose straight to Tamarindo.
Here are some helpful trip planning tips to make your Costa Rica travel and stay more enjoyable:
Panacea de la Montaña, one of the best hotels in Costa Rica, is located about 5 miles from Tamarindo, right off the Pacific coast, on the Guanacaste Peninsula in Northwest Costa Rica. We enjoy a temperate climate year round.
Liberia International Airport, also known as the Daniel Oduber International Airport, is a 45-minute drive from Tamarindo. (Airlines that fly into Liberia International include American, Continental, Jet Blue, US Air, Air Canada, Taca, Copa and Delta. Please contact these airlines for schedules and fares.)
San Jose Juan Santamaria International Airport is a 4-5 hours’ drive from Tamarindo. Domestic flights between San Jose and Tamarindo are also available.
Buses, shuttles, taxicabs and rental cars are all available at both airports. If you prefer we can arrange service to transport you from the Liberia airport to Panacea. If you would like to explore more of Costa Rica, we can recommend accommodations; just let us know.
Spanish is Costa Rica’s official language, and English is widely spoken.
The Costa Rica colón is the primary unit of currency. Both U.S. dollars and Costa Rican colones are accepted currency, so exchanging US dollars is not necessary. Most banks in Costa Rica will exchange traveler’s checks, but require your passport, proof of purchase, and second form of photo ID with matching signatures and names.
Most establishments in Costa Rica accept credit cards but may charge a service fee. ATMs are available, but may impose surcharges.
Costa Rica requires valid passports for entry. You will not be allowed entrance if your passport expires within six (6) months of the date of entry. Your valid passport is the most recognizable form of ID for currency exchange, car rental, hotel registration and most business transactions. A valid passport is also necessary for medical emergencies and extended stays.
“Casually comfortable” is the dress code for Panacea and the town of Tamarindo. In Tamarindo, people walk around in shorts, bathing suits and flip-flops year ’round.
To make your stay more pleasant, you may want to include the following items — in addition to your passport — when preparing for your visit to Panacea de la Montaña:
- Bathing suit
- Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses
- Beach towel
- Surf shoes or flip flops
- Comfy clothes for yoga
- Rainwear (poncho) or umbrella for intermittent use during the May-November rainy season
- Sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots
- Insect repellent
- Sweater and jacket if you’re planning to visit mountain areas or San Jose
Please note that Costa Rica imposes an airport departure tax. Please go to US government travel website
To make your trip more peaceful and enjoyable, there are no telephones in your cabiña accommodations. Our office phone is available should you need to be reached in case of emergency.
Although you might be able to use your cell phone at Panacea, we encourage you to keep it turned off, and spend time here being present with yourself, your travel companions, and the beautiful world around you. After all, you’re coming to Panacea to get away from it all, aren’t you? Don’t worry about being out of touch, though. In the town of Tamarindo, there are Internet cafes, plenty of locations with free WiFi as well as public phone and fax facilities.
We provide a daily shuttle to Tamarindo Beach. Taxis are available to go to Tamarindo, Flamingo, Brasilito/Conchal, or Playa Grande. Rental cars are also locally available.
Please be sure to contact us if you have any questions.
