Good food and nutrition are key complements to successful yoga training. This is why your number one Costa Rica yoga retreat, Panacea de La Montaña, will be serving you a healthy vegetarian cuisine for our upcoming 200-hr training program this August 8-15. A special plant-based, farm-to-table menu has been developed for this hallmark Panacea event after its recent attainment of an RYS certification under the Yoga Alliance.
Food plays a great role in the practice of yoga. This concept is based on the principle that what we consume significantly affects the totality of our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Yoga doesn’t see food as a bundle of nutrients but as a spiritual component that has a tangible effect on the body and mind. Yoga classifies food into three categories: Rajasic, creating restlessness; Tamasic, promoting lethargy; and Sattvic, creating light, positivity, and energy.
The wonders that Sattvic food creates are evident during pranayama (breathing techniques included in the training). Such food is believed to raise the prana levels in the body, leading to a more optimistic and harmonious state. Many yoga practitioners experience an increase in their body and mind awareness, which explains their tendency to gravitate towards high prana-generating Sattvic foods.
Here at Panacea, we see to it that everything is set to give you the full yoga experience, so we source food as locally as possible to guarantee freshness. Our Sattvic recipes are made from seasonal and highly nutritious fruit and vegetable ingredients. We serve a variety of dishes from grilled vegetables to tropical salads and homemade pizzas, and a lot more. All packages we offer include vegetarian breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, except on Saturdays when you’ll be dining in a local restaurant in Tamarindo, a place where you can have a sunset beach view.
During the 23-day training, you will have these dishes filled with veggie goodness in our lovely dining room by the pool, with a majestic view of the verdant Costa Rica mountain ranges and the serene valley below. If you decide to venture outdoor for a tour around the beaches, natural wonders, wildlife areas, or a town visit, we can provide you gourmet box lunches. Please do let us know during the booking of any dietary restrictions or requirements you might have. We’ll do our best to accommodate these adjustments.
Enjoy Costa Rica yoga through our magnificent retreat and take home your 200-hour teaching certificate with the confidence of being able to propagate the practice properly.
