Panacea de la Montaña yoga retreat and spa grows and uses many native trees from our area.
Today I want to share with you how and why we enjoy the papaya tree, which actually is a perennial plant. We use this lovely fruit for juice with mandarin lime, in salads, soups, and as a beauty aid. Papaya eaten daily helps with digestion, liver cleansing, and lowering blood pressure.
The rind can help the skin glow. First, clean the face with plain yogurt, rinse, and then take some pieces of the fleshy papaya rind and make small circular motions rubbing the rind on your face and neck. Rinse off after 10 minutes and enjoy the silky feel and even color tone of your skin. You can also make a body scrub combining mashed papaya and shredded coconut. Exfoliate and heal skin from head to toe.
We also enjoy sharing with the howler monkeys local to Tamarindo, and the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. They love the healing properties of the leaves as well as the fruit. Keep enjoying this orange sunshine, and next week I’ll talk about the chia growing at Panacea, and all its wonderful uses.
