Morning yoga got our hips and hearts ready for the day! Breakfast and then Arturo was there to take us on our trek. First to Cotapaxi national park. Cotapaxi is one of the many volcanoes in Ecuador (28 in all!), and is the second highest one at 19,347 feet (5897 M). It was a beautiful day for seeing the volcano as the wind would blow the clouds away every now and then so we caught some good views, and photos. It was windy and a bit chilly there, so we took a short hike around the small lake there, where we got to see a lizard, some birds, and wild horses! Then a short break for hot chocolate, coca leaf tea, and getting our passports stamped at the park, and then off to Baños. Good snacks were shared by all along the way, as well as many fun photos. We stayed at the delightful La Casa Verde, an eco lodge perched above the Pastaza river. After the noise of the center of Quito, we were all delighted to be here in Rebecca and Doug’s home, where their conscious construction and eco-friendly living are an inspiration.
We enjoyed getting into our heart center during the afternoon (a game of energy ball, anyone?), and enjoyed the compassionate and loving massages, facials, and food!!! It was a wonderful cap to this day, and we all had a good night’s sleep!
