We have this philosophy here at Panacea about keeping life as simple as possible. You can see this in various ways and means on the mountain. In the cabinas, for example, we have them simply, yet comfortably furnished. You have a bed, places to put your clothes, personal items, toiletries. You have a light by your bed for reading. You have a hammock on your front porch, along with a table and a couple chairs for maybe writing in your journal, or playing a game with a friend. You have an indoor shower with hot and cold water, and an outdoor shower for delighting in our year-round warmth that allows for such fun as bathing in nature. What we don’t have is a lot of other stuff – no tvs, no other electrical devices, no phones. You have a place that is not surrounded or bombarded by the plethora of electrical emissions – some of which are believed to contribute to poor sleep.
You may hear a lot of different sounds than you do in your home or neighborhood – after all, nature does not abide by any noise ordinances. However, you will sleep in the sounds of nature – frogs, birds, geckos, and possibly howler monkeys. Once you adjust to having them as your backdrop, instead of the sounds of your city, your neighbor’s television, or your roommate’s cellphone, you may notice that you sleep deeper, dream more profoundly here. It’s simple, and delightful. Sweet dreams!
